From founder to finance, manufacturing to marketing, Plexxi’s management team has a rich history with networking and systems. Excellence in execution arises from broad, real-world experience, and Plexxi’s leaders bring years of professional experience across a wide array of companies including EMC, Sun, ChipCom, Prominet, 3Com, DEC, Nortel, and Juniper Networks. Plexxi’s deep experience with large companies is balanced with an innovator’s spirit, its management team having supported more than 10 venture-backed companies, including Acme Packet, Arbor Networks, Reva Systems, C-Port, and Pirus. Drawing from both sets of experiences, Plexxi is a strong mix of both inventor and practitioner.

CEO
Successfully leading a technology company requires a strong sense of what the market needs and an uncanny ability to build it. Plexxi CEO Rich Napolitano combines the vision required to disrupt with the experience necessary to succeed. Rich has spent more than 30 years in the IT industry, most recently as the head of EMC’s Unified Storage Division, where he was responsible for more than $4 billion in annual revenue and 2,000 employees. Prior to EMC, Rich has led both sales and engineering, and acted as both founder and venture capitalist across companies like Sun Microsystems, Pirus Networks, and Alchemy Angels. Rich holds a BS degree in Computer Science from the State University, Stony Brook, NY, and owns two U.S. patents.
Founder, CTO, and EVP, Products & Technology
Invention is part discovery and part experience, and Plexxi founder and EVP Dave Husak is equal parts of each. With more than 25 years of experience as an engineer, architect, CTO and CEO, Dave is a technologist at heart with the spirit of a serial entrepreneur. Having worked at 3Com, Synernetics and Apollo, Dave then founded C-Port Corporation, Reva Systems and now Plexxi. He has contributed extensively to industry standardization efforts, including ANSI FDDI, IEEE 802, the IETF and the ATM Forum, and has been granted sixteen patents, and has several more pending. Dave holds a SBEE in Bioelectrical Engineering and has completed graduate work in communications systems from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Co-Founder and VP, Product Management
Visionary solutions are built by visionary leaders. Plexxi co-founder and Vice President of Product Management Mat Mathews has spent 20 years in the networking industry observing, experimenting and ultimately honing his technology vision. The resulting product — a combination of traditional networking, software-defined networking and photonic switching — represents the best of Mat's career experiences. Prior to Plexxi, Mat held VP of Product Management roles at Arbor Networks and Crossbeam Systems. Mat began his career as a software engineer for Wellfleet Communications, building high speed Frame Relay Switches for the carrier market. Mat holds a Bachelors of Science in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
SVP, Enterprise Sales
Sales excellence is achieved and honed through experience; sales leadership is defined by successful results. Mitch Breen brings over 3 decades of sales and sales leadership experience to Plexxi. He held a series of positions with progressively increasing responsibility during a 25-year career at EMC Corporation, where he moved from sales management into leadership posts including: Senior Vice President of Mid-Range Storage and Senior Vice President of Global Channel Sales, where he helped guide the organization through a series of major business transitions. Recently, Mitch helped define the burgeoning hyperconverged infrastructure market, leading SimpliVity's go-to-market strategy and building a hyperconverged sales machine, which grew to over $100M of annual revenue. Mitch also held executive positions at Oracle, where he served as Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Sales for North America, and most recently Progress software, where he served as Chief Revenue Officer, managing all customer facing initiatives. Mitch holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts.
SVP, Strategic Accounts, Federal and International
Excelling at sales and service means understanding the total customer experience. The best sales organizations move and respond to customer heartbeats, from first touch through the entirety of the relationship. Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales Tim Lieto manages the overall customer experience at Plexxi, with direct responsibility for sales, customer service, and both channel and technology partners. Tim has played the role of consultant as the managing director at The WaveSense Group and as the creator of the Stategic Consulting division at the Enterprise Strategy Group. Before that, Tim oversaw record revenue growth as the Senior Vice President of Americas Sales at Sun. Tim also led sales at Chipcom prior to 3Com’s acquisition. Tim holds a BA in Finance from Boston University.
VP, Finance
With more than 25 years of industry experience, ten of which were spent with venture-backed companies, Plexxi Vice President of Finance and Administration Laurie Reidel is equipped with both the art and science of finance and operations. Before joining Plexxi, Laurie held the Chief Financial Officer role at Authentica, a startup company in the Digital Rights Management industry that was later acquired by EMC. Most recently, Laurie worked as Sales Controller at Kronos, a $700M publicly-traded workforce management solution company. Laurie completed her undergraduate work in economics and finance at Bentley University, and received her MBA from Northeastern University.
VP, Operations and Customer Support
Excellence is built on knowledge, diligence and foresight ultimately driving high quality, predictable results for our customers.  With more than 30 years of technical and managerial experience in high technology companies, Steve Anderson brings a broad experience base to the team. His career has encompassed leading Product Management, Engineering, Program Management, Global Operations, and Support functions within Fortune 500 companies as well as venture backed startups.  Most recently Steve served as Vice President Enterprise Operations at Mercury Systems responsible for Global Operations and Customer Quality.  Prior to joining Mercury, Steve held senior leadership positions at Enterasys Networks, 3Com Corporation, and Synernetics. Steve spent his early career at Prime Computer leading both production and manufacturing engineering teams.  Mr. Anderson recently completed the Advanced Management Executive Leadership Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School.
VP, Engineering
Leadership, technology and innovation are key ingredients in delivering great products to market. As Vice President of Engineering, Gilad Sade brings a strong and diverse background in software development, virtualization, storage and architecture to his role where he is responsible for the development and delivery of Plexxi's next generation networking products. Most recently, Gilad spent six years in senior leadership roles at Hewlett-Packard where he lead the development of the company's fast growing 3PAR InformOS product and the company's HPUX virtualization lab. Prior to that, Gilad held a director of systems architecture role in CLARiiON systems at EMC, where he also had previously served in a senior development capacity. Gilad is a co-author of 15 patents in the storage systems area. He holds a BS in Physics from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
VP, Strategic Accounts
Sales is about having a keen understanding of customer needs and matching them to appropriate solutions so that everyone benefits. The best salespeople are fluent in both business and technology, translating product into value. Vice President of Strategic Accounts Bill Koss has acquired these skills over a 20-year career in networking and information technology. Plexxi is Bill’s fifth venture-backed startup, having successfully exited CrossComm, SDL, Sonoma Systems and Internet Photonics. Notably, Ciena acquired Internet Photonics in 2004 to include the CN4200 platform, which became a $1B+ product line. While with Ciena, Bill held a variety of roles including VP of North American Sales and VP of Global Partners. During Bill’s tenure at Ciena, annual revenue grew from $290M to $700M.
VP, Sales Operations
Building a successful sales channel takes a deep understanding of your own business operations and also those of your partners. Mark is responsible for making it easy to do business with Plexxi in a way that scales with our sales growth. Most recently Mark served as Chief Operating Officer at 3DSystems responsible for Sales, Manufacturing, Services and Engineering of a $500M+ size company with WW operations and facilities. Prior to 3DSystems, Mark held progressively more challenging roles in Channel Sales Management and Operations, M&A integration and divisional COO roles at EMC. Mr. Wright completed the Advanced Management Executive Leadership Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School, and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
