What does “integrated” mean to you? Many networking vendors tend to use the term “integrated” to generally indicate that they work with other parts of the IT infrastructure ecosystem, or the cloud management platform. But in my experience, every vendor has a different definition and what it entails for the overall data center.
So, what does it really mean? Integration has a number of factors that make up a true integrated system. To achieve a true on-premise cloud, integration needs to evolve. It must be fully bi-directional information exchange, and it needs to cover all three layers of integrated networking requirements:
- Integrated Day 0 Installation and Process
- Compute Events → Network Auto-Configuration
- Compute Events → Network Dynamic Response
- Storage Events → Network Auto-Configuration
- Storage Events → Network Dynamic Response
- Converged Management:
- Integrated Visibility (in Cloud Management Platform)
- Integrated Configuration (in Cloud Management Platform)
